  • empower governments to develop structured and prioritizied policies for research for health as part of their broader research strategies
  • improve systems capacities for the implementation of these policies and
  • enhance international collaboration to address global and national health research

Engage all relevant constituencies in research and innovation for health:

  • ensure inclusion of public and pricvate actors, different sectors and disciplines, civil society, and local, national and international organizations in a coherent and coordinated manner
  • include stakeholders in both the content and process of research

Increase accountability of research systems:

  • measure outcomes and assess impact of research for health
  • monitor initiatives and partnerships involved in research for health and
  • earn public confidence by setting standards for fair and transparent  research processes 

Welcome to Bamako 2008

The Global Ministerial Forum on Research for Health will be held in Bamako, Mali, 17-19 November 2008. It will bring together up to 1000 policy-makers and researchers to focus on the key linkages between the health sector and research, science and technology, higher education, and the global innovation system.

Preparatory Process

© realhealthnews - Dr Irenen Agyepong of Ghana The Bamako 2008 Secretariat is coordinating the Global Ministerial Forum on Research for Health in Mali. The preparatory process consists of regional meetings, planned and executed by regional authorities and our partners. Consultative questionnaires are available for NGOs and health professionals to register their viewpoints and to steer a successful agenda for the Bamako meeting.
